Overview
I participated in my university's study abroad program (UCEAP) and thus they asked past participants to take part in their t-shirt design contest. The winner of the contest would have their design printed out for next year's UCEAP students to wear. The requirements were:
- Use at most two colors
- Have the program's name (UCEAP) written somewhere
- OPTIONAL - display the program's motto (Travel, Live, Learn)
Type: Graphic Design
My Process
- I decided to create two different designs
- The first design I drew inspiration from the typical 'hipster' logo look that people like on t-shirts nowawdays. I looked up a lot of different t-shirt designs and created my own design based on those.
- The second design I wanted to embody the image of traveling to different places. So I knew I wanted to have a plane and widely known monuments around the world. I sketched out my idea on paper first before transferring it onto Photoshop where I traced and finalized it.
- I had two versions of the second design: one with a rounded more animated plane and one that was more straight edged. I ended up going with the second design because after showing multiple people my designs and getting feedback, most people thought the rounded animated plane looked more awkward and unnatural. Thus, I went with the straight edged plane since it gives it a cleaner feel overall.
- Tools Used: Pen and Paper, Adobe Photoshop CS5
